The Global Catholic Climate Movement (GCCM) is an ecumenical community of laypeople, priests, religious, and a global network of organizations who are responding to Pope Francis’s call to action in his encyclical, Laudato Si’: On Care for Our Common Home. They are working together to tackle the climate change crisis and to find practical ways to live out the message of the encyclical. The GCCM encourages local communities to make a spiritual commitment to overcome consumerism and heal their relationship with creation and the poor.

GCCM likewise encourages investors to divest from fossil fuel production and sales and to support organizations and entrepreneurs who promote healing and nurturing our environment by mitigating climate change, protecting wildlife, and restoring ecological balance to Earth’s habitats and communities.

Testimonial

We’re grateful for the Franciscan Sisters of Mary’s support, who empower the Church to care for creation through high-impact programs from Global Catholic Climate Movement. From the liturgical resources sent to rural parishes in the global South to a Laudato Si’ conference in the Vatican, support from the Sisters has made it possible to strengthen the community of the faithful wherever they are. In broad global campaigns, funding from FSM was key to deepening our work for the Season of Creation, a month-long celebration of creation marked by tens of thousands of Christians around the world, and to building up Catholic participation in Earth Day, which was celebrated by hundreds of Church communities this year. The Franciscan Sisters of Mary are doing real good in the world, and we’re grateful to work as their partners. Tomás Insua, Executive Director, Global Catholic Climate Movement
